**The attack planner and all guide pages are free. The defense planner, the battle predictor and the no-duplicate joiner lists need a license: a Personal license costs $15 per year for up to 3 devices, and a State license costs $60 per year for up to 50 devices (one key for a whole state, usually bought by an R4 or R5). Licenses are sold through Lemon Squeezy.**

## What is free

- The attack planner for Gen 1-16 and every garrison type.
- All guide pages: the best formation for each generation, the 60/40/0 formation, garrison defense, troop ratio, Sunfire Castle, the bear trap guide and the joiner rankings.
- The data file [/data/formations.json](https://wosformations.com/data/formations.json) and the markdown version of every page.

## What needs a license

- The defense planner.
- The battle predictor.
- The no-duplicate joiner lists (a different hero for every joiner slot, with backups) in the [joiners guide](https://wosformations.com/joiners-guide/).

These tabs show a license screen until a license key is activated. Everything else works without a key.

## Plans

| Plan | Price | Devices | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Personal license** | $15 per year | Up to 3 | One player on their own devices. |
| **State license** | $60 per year | Up to 50 | A whole state: one key for all its players, usually bought by an R4 or R5. |

Both plans unlock the same tools.

## How a license works

- After you buy, Lemon Squeezy gives you a license key.
- Open the planner, tap a locked tab, paste the key and press Activate.
- The key is checked online through Lemon Squeezy. Each browser or device where you activate it uses one of the activations of your plan.
- If the screen says the key is not valid or has no activations left, the limit of your plan is reached.

## Buying a license

License sales are not open yet. Until they open, every tool stays available.
